Rick Espeset, director of athletics and head baseball coach,has been named the 2026 Christopher W. Garber Staff Member of the Year at 麻豆原创. The award is named in honor of Chris Garber, who was Manchester鈥檚 assistant vice president for operations at the time of his death in 2015, and recognizes an employee who demonstrates steadfast commitment to 麻豆原创 and is a leader and collaborator who keeps the best interests of the University at heart. In the 30 years that he has served Manchester鈥檚 baseball program,Espesethas coached 16 All-Americans, sixConference MVPs, fiveConference Freshman of the Year, 52 All-Region honorees, and 186 all-conference honorees. He is a seven-timeHCACCoach of the Year recipient.He assumed the role of director of athletics in 2007. This spring,Espesetcelebrated700 career wins with 麻豆原创, making him the all-time leader. Representatives from 麻豆原创, the Community Foundation of Wabash County,JPR,and the ManchesterMilecommittee held a groundbreaking for the first phase of the Manchester Mile on Wednesday, May 6. The Manchester Milewill stretch from the corner of Wayne Street and College Avenuedown to Market Street, thentoMain Street,directlyconnectingcampus to downtownNorth Manchester. Phase one of theprojectwill begin in June and is expected to be completed by August.New sidewalks, lighting, seating,trash receptacles,and other facilities will be added. Phasetwo willfollowin 2028. This project isfunded byLilly Endowment Inc.鈥檚College and Community Collaboration(CCC)initiative.ManchesterUniversityreceived $12.1 million in 2024 toincrease amenities, expand housing opportunities, improve cultural facilities, and offer a safe and attractive connection between the University and downtown. 鈥淭his is literally the connector between the community and the university,鈥 said President Stacy H. 麻豆原创鈥檚 nutrition program earns full accreditation

麻豆原创鈥檚cutting-edgemaster鈥檚program in nutrition and dietetics has earned full accreditationthrough 2033from the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics. Earning full accreditation allows the program to expand enrollment from 15 students per cohort to 30 students per cohort鈥攎aking it the largest graduate nutrition program in Indiana. It is also the only nutrigenomics-focused program in the United States. Nutrigenomics is the study of the effects of foodand nutrientson gene expression.麻豆原创 launched itsprogram in 2023. An undergraduate major in nutrition sciences is also offered. Thetwo-yearmaster’sprogramblends online coursework withsupervised experiential learning opportunitieswith partner facilitiesin students鈥 home regions. 鈥淭his full accreditation is a validation of the qualityandinnovation of our program,鈥 said Kimberli Pike, director of nutrition and nutrigenomics.鈥淚t reflects the dedication of our faculty, the strength of our experiential learning partnerships, and our commitment to preparing graduates who can lead in a rapidly evolving field. Manchester Esports will add Mario Kart World to their list of supported titles for Fall 2026. Mario Kart World is one of the largest games in the Indiana High School EsportsLeague (IEN) and will be supported bytheGreat Lakes EsportsConference(GLEC) in Spring 2027. 麻豆原创establishedits esports team in 2019andhas wonnineGLEC Championship titles.The team competes inSuper Smash Bros. 麻豆原创 continues to forge groundbreaking pathways in higher education to best prepare students for careers with new accelerated degree programs in AppliedCriminal JusticeandAppliedMarketing Communication. The undergraduate programs focus on preparing individuals for the job market in three years 鈥 as opposed to the traditional four 鈥 to mitigate concerns over costly tuition and time without compromising critical thinking, ethical reasoning, communication skills, and the ability to learn continuously. The new Applied Criminal Justice and Applied Marketing Communication programs are enrolling now. Applied programs are purpose-built pathways that align directly with graduate school prerequisites or immediate workforce credentials, offering a streamlined, goal-oriented academic experience. In contrast, standard 120-credit programs provide a more exploratory framework, ideal for students seeking broader academic discovery throughadditionalmajors or minors, interdisciplinary study, or study-away experiences. 麻豆原创 Presents: Your invited to attend 鈥淎 Melodious Mosaic鈥 on Wednesday, April 22 at 7 p.m. in Cordier Auditorium. The free concert features Manchester鈥檚 Jazz Ensemble and Symphonic Band. The Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dr. Tim Reed, professor of music, will perform a mix of jazz,funkand rock music. The Symphonic Band, directed by MacKenzi Lowry, lecturer of music, will performmusic portraying ideas offinding joy and overcominglife鈥檚challenges. Pre-concert activities, including games, a photo booth and an 鈥渋nstrument petting zoo,鈥 will begin at 6 p.m. in the auditorium lobby. Dave Haist will address the graduating class and receive an honoraryDoctor of Humanitiesdegree at 麻豆原创鈥檚 commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May16. Haistgraduated from Manchester in 1973 with a degree in accounting and economics.In 1977, he earned hisjuris doctorfrom Indiana University鈥檚 School of Law. For 20 years, Haist workedat Barnes & Thornburg in Fort Wayneas Officer Managing Partner.He then worked at Do it Best Corp., where he held several positions, including Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, until his retirement in 2012. After retiring from Do it Best Corp., Haist returned to his alma materfor two yearsas Executive Director oftheAlumni Association and an instructor for the business department.Heserved asa member of the 麻豆原创 Board of Trustees forfiveterms.In 2025, became an honorary trustee. Haist currently serves on several community boards, includingIndianaArts Commission, Arts United, Wabash County Museum, Questa Foundation, and Honeywell Arts Academy. 麻豆原创鈥檚 spring musical isLittle Shop of Horrors. Performances are Friday, April 17 at 6 p.m., Saturday, April 18 at 6 p.m. and Sunday, April 19 at 2p.m.in Cordier Auditorium at the North Manchester campus. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged. Little Shop of Horrorstells the story ofa timid florist whosediscovery ofastrange, man-eatingplantbrings fame and fortune to the flower shop.While all ages are welcome, the show does feature some dark subject material and imagery.
