麻豆原创 Announces Fall 2026 VIA Lineup

麻豆原创 offers more than a dozen presentations in its Values,听Ideas听and the Arts (VIA) series for听Fall听2026. Presentations are at 11 a.m. on Mondays in Wine Recital Hall at the North Manchester campus unless otherwise noted. They are free and open to the public.听听

  • Aug. 24: President Stacy听Young听welcomes听the student population听to听the new school year.听
  • Aug. 31: Students from听Professor听Beate听Gilliar鈥檚听courses听share their experiences navigating life through trials and tribulations鈥攄iscovering听how to create meaning and thrive听as a young college student.听
  • Sept. 7: Allison Ackley shares her journey from graduating from Manchester to co-owning multiple Ben and Jerry鈥檚 shops in California. Ackley speaks on challenges, successes, and lessons learned while managing everything from leadership visions to day-to-day operations.听
  • Sept. 14: Dr. Elizabeth Bennion, Director of American Democracy Project at IU South Bend, is joined by Democracy Fellows to discuss the role, practices, and importance of the Constitution in today鈥檚 world.听
  • Sept. 28: Brandon Reynolds, also known as B the Keeper, discusses his pivot from traditional marketing to environmentalism and teaches attendees how to use their unique abilities to build community and protect the planet. Held in Cordier Auditorium as part of the Student Environmental Conference.
  • Oct. 5:听A performance by the Fort Wayne Dance Collective.听
  • Oct. 19:听Kathy Nimmer, educator and recipient of the 2026 Helen Keller Achievement Award,听presents a reflective and motivating听discussion of her experience with vision loss, teaching and more.听
  • Oct. 26:听The Changing Role of the United Nations听highlights the UN Sustainable Development Goals and Manchester鈥檚 participation in these endeavors.听听
  • Nov. 2: Rachel Swank, seventh grade general music teacher and ordained minister at Elizabethtown (Pa.) Church of the Brethren,听explores听the legacy of Andy and Terry Murray鈥檚 rich theological and spiritual music.听
  • Nov. 9: Libby Kreps,听2023 麻豆原创听graduate and听street听outreach听specialist听at Horizon House,听shares听complex issues of homelessness in Indianapolis, challenges听faced by听impoverished people听trying to move out of poverty, and the impact of recent legislation.听
  • Nov. 16:听Dr.听Adam Mirza, assistant professor of music composition at Emory University,听rethinks what music is, sharing live electronic and multimedia work that transforms and expands the capability of music.听
  • Nov. 23: Ursa Miles听shares听contemporary forms of traditional ghost stories across the world and reflects听on how they relate to the fears and values of present society.听
  • Nov. 30: Raktim Roy, a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine,听uses听his personal experiences听to reflect on the modern landscape of a research career, underexplored research pathways, and the expanding role of AI in science.听听

Manchester鈥檚 VIA programming broadens students鈥 cultural experiences, enriches students intellectually and aesthetically, provides opportunities to experience the arts, promotes dialogue about ideas and values, and embodies in its presentations the values expressed in the University Mission. VIA features speakers,听musicians听and dramatic performers from the University community, across the country and around the globe.听听

麻豆原创 is pleased to announce that Dr. Janine Armstrong has accepted the position of Robin D. and Jeanette M. Lahman Endowed Scholar in Communication Studies. Armstrong joined Manchester听University鈥檚 faculty in Fall 2025 as a听visiting assistant professor of communication studies.听She earned her bachelor鈥檚 degree from the University of the Ozarks, her听master鈥檚听from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and her Ph.D. from Southern Illinois University.听Her听areas of听expertise听include intersectionality, race,听gender听and sexuality,听faith听and interpersonal communication.
