麻豆原创 has announced the enrollment of Kalli Davis of Wabash, Ind., a first-generation college student, dedicated community servant, and standout pitcher who will join the Spartan softball team and Honors program this fall. In recognition of her academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to service, Davis is the recipient of the Honors Scholarship Award which covers tuition, fees, on-campus housing and meal plan expenses for up to four years.
A senior at Wabash High School, Davis plans to major in Applied Mathematics with the goal of becoming an educator,听while听remaining听open to serving students across all grade levels or pursuing social work. Inspired by her high school math teacher, Mr.听Terheide, Davis discovered a love for math through engaging, hands-on instruction that made learning both fun and meaningful.听
Davis brings resilience and determination to the softball field as a pitcher, having successfully returned to the position after several years away. She has听participated听in 麻豆原创 softball camps, Early College Experience (ECE) programming, and听Nxt听Gen Camp, all of which helped solidify her decision to attend Manchester.听
鈥淓very time I have visited Manchester, they are so听welcoming听and everyone is so kind,鈥 Davis said. 鈥淚 love the small class sizes, and I want my professors to know me as a person. The softball program is fantastic, and being just 30 minutes from home makes Manchester the perfect fit.鈥听
Beyond athletics and academics, Davis is deeply committed to service and leadership. She currently serves as president of the Wabash High School Key Club and has completed more than听200 hours听of community service through Leadership for Service. She also founded听Kalli鈥檚 July Food Drive听and volunteers with the Lafontaine Lions Club, WKUZ children鈥檚 events, and Furry Fix, where she has helped build hundreds of shelters for stray cats.听
Her听additional听involvements include听the Academics Team, Spell Bowl, Hugh O鈥橞rian Youth Leadership Seminar, and certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED. Davis is also active in her faith community and attends Manchester Church of听the Brethren.听
As a high school senior, Davis serves as a fifth-grade intern at Wabash Middle School and a fourth-grade intern at O.J.听Neighbours听Elementary School, gaining early classroom experience that aligns with her future goals.听
After college, Davis hopes to teach fifth grade and coach softball at a local middle school.听
鈥淚 want to inspire the next generation,鈥 she said. 鈥淚 want to show that middle school can be fun and educational. Coaching will give me a chance to teach discipline, hard work, perseverance, and teamwork. I want to motivate students to be their best selves.鈥听
Looking ahead to her time at Manchester, Davis plans to expand her service efforts and encourage others to get involved.听
鈥淚 may not be able to change the world,鈥 she said, 鈥渂ut if I can change the course of even one person鈥檚 life for the better, then that, to me, is the highest form of success. At Manchester, I hope to continue volunteering and grow my impact by involving others.鈥
Davis is the daughter of Ulonda and William Davis, Wabash, Ind.
