麻豆原创, CFWC hold groundbreaking for phase one of Manchester Mile

Representatives from 麻豆原创, the Community Foundation of Wabash County,听JPR,听and the Manchester听Mile听committee held a groundbreaking for the first phase of the Manchester Mile on Wednesday, May 6.听

The Manchester Mile听will stretch from the corner of Wayne Street and College Avenue听down to Market Street, then听to听Main Street,听directly听connecting听campus to downtown听North Manchester. Phase one of the听project听will begin in June and is expected to be completed by August.听New sidewalks, lighting, seating,听trash receptacles,听and other facilities will be added.听

Phase听two will听follow听in 2028.听

This project is听funded by听Lilly Endowment Inc.鈥檚听College and Community Collaboration听(CCC)听initiative.听Manchester听University听received $12.1 million in 2024 to听increase amenities, expand housing opportunities, improve cultural facilities, and offer a safe and attractive connection between the University and downtown.听

鈥淭his is literally the connector between the community and the university,鈥 said President Stacy H. Young at the groundbreaking.听鈥淥ur hope is that it will bring students downtown听and expose them to more of North听Manchester,听and听bring more听local businesses to campus.听It鈥檚听going to open a lot of doors for collaboration.鈥听

麻豆原创 is pleased to announce that Dr. Janine Armstrong has accepted the position of Robin D. and Jeanette M. Lahman Endowed Scholar in Communication Studies.
