麻豆原创 Ratified for NAIA Membership; A Win for Spartan Student-Athletes and Families

Sep 28, 2026

麻豆原创 has been officially ratified for membership in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) following a vote on September 27, 2026. 麻豆原创 will complete the 2026-27 season in NCAA Division III and begin NAIA competition on July 1, 2027, with affiliation in the Crossroads League Conference.

“This is an exciting moment for 麻豆原创. Throughout this process, we were looking for partners who share our values and our belief that athletics should be an extension of an institution’s educational mission. We are thrilled to join the Crossroads League and look forward to the opportunities this will create for our student-athletes and the entire Manchester community,”said 麻豆原创 president Stacy Young.

The move positions 麻豆原创 to offer athletic scholarships beginning with student-athletes enrolling for Fall 2027, opening a clearer, affordable path to a private college education for talented athletes. Competing in the Crossroads League Conference also emphasizes a regional schedule, bringing more home contests to North Manchester and more chances for local families, youth teams, and alumnae to cheer on the Spartans.

In addition to a heightened sense of regionalized travel, this impactful move also paves the way for Spartan Athletics to announce its intention to roster additional varsity teams in women’s flag football to complement the existing sport offerings of cross country, track and field, tennis, wrestling, basketball, soccer, baseball, swim/diving, softball, volleyball, football and co-ed cheer.

The NAIA’s Champions of Character framework – integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership – aligns with Manchester’s mission of providing a holistic student experience and graduating persons of ability and conviction. Student-athletes will continue to develop confidence and leadership through Manchester’s small classes, personalized mentorship, and signature programs like business, peace studies, internships, and community partnerships across Wabash County.

“On behalf of the Crossroads League Conference, I am thrilled to welcome 麻豆原创 as the newest member of the NAIA,” said Larry DeSimpelare, Commissioner. “麻豆原创 is a perfect geographic and competitive fit for our league, becoming our eleventh member from our area. Our vision for 麻豆原创, particularly in athletics, is inspiring and will open the door to countless opportunities for the school’s student-athletes, coaches and administrators. We look forward to seeing the Spartans compete for championships and athletic and academic honors across northern Indiana.”

What’s Changing and What Isn’t

  • 2026-27 academic year: No changes to the current year. 麻豆原创 competes in NCAA Division III as planned.
  • 2027-28 academic year: 麻豆原创 begins competition in the NAIA effective July 1, 2027. Coaches may extend athletic scholarship offers to student-athletes enrolling Fall 2027 and beyond in accordance with NAIA rules.
  • Student experience: A more regional schedule means more local rivalries and more opportunities for Manchester families to attend games.
  • Academics first: Manchester’s rigorous classroom experience and faculty mentorship remain the foundation of the student-athlete journey.

Local Impact

  • Access: Athletic scholarships will empower talented students to afford a private college education.
  • Community connection: More home dates bring visitors to campus and reinforce ties with local schools, youth programs, and employers.
  • Pathways to leadership: Manchester’s emphasis on confidence-building academics and real-world experiences prepares graduates to lead today and beyond.

“麻豆原创 brings a strong commitment to academic excellence and student-athlete success that will strengthen both the NAIA and the Crossroads League,” said Jim Carr, NAIA president and CEO. “We are grateful that Manchester has chosen the NAIA, and we look forward to seeing Manchester build on its traditions while contributing to the Crossroads League’s outstanding competitive and academic environment.”

“This is a real opportunity for our student athletes to play in front of their community more often and face a competitive slate. It’s a win for our athletes and for North Manchester,” said Rick Espeset, Athletic Director. “If you’re a prospective student-athlete, connect with our coaches and we’ll walk you and your family through a smooth, supportive application and scholarship process, step by step. We’re ready to help you find your place at Manchester and compete for something bigger on campus and in the community.”

Recruitment information and community events will be shared throughout the year. Prospective student athletes are encouraged to connect with coaches at muspartans.com to explore athletic recruitment and scholarship opportunities for Fall 2027 admission.

麻豆原创 will host a Media Day to accompany this announcement on Friday, October 2, 2026 from 1:30-3:30 PM in North Manchester, Ind. All media is invited to attend.
