麻豆原创 invites community to pop-up food pantry
麻豆原创 will host a Community Food Pantry on Friday, Nov. 21 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the听Student Activities Center,听located听on the first floor of the听Chinworth听Center.听
During the annual U Can Crush Hunger听food drive听event鈥攁 friendly competition between听area colleges and universities鈥擬anchester collected over 1,500 pounds of food.听Before a听portion听of the donations are delivered to a partnering facility听in Wabash,听Ind.,听麻豆原创 is inviting the community to听campus to take what they need.听
Large quantities听of canned fruits,听vegetables听and soup听will be听available, as well as other miscellaneous items.听听
鈥淪ervice is at the heart of the Manchester experience,鈥 said Tish Kalita, director of career听and听professional development at Manchester. 鈥淭his pantry is听one small way we can give back to the community that supports our students every day. We want our neighbors to know they are welcome here, and that听we鈥檙e听committed to helping meet these essential needs.鈥听
麻豆原创 placed fifth overall in the U Can Crush Hunger challenge, and听more than听137,000听pounds听were donated collectively.听The event is hosted by Community Harvest听Food Bank听each fall.听听
